Fire Stopping

Fire stopping is the generic term for the installation of suitable materials to seal openings in fire walls or floors.

These walls/floors will be creating fire compartments that are designed to contain fire and smoke in the event of a fire.

During the construction of new buildings and the refurbishment of existing ones, various trades will create breaches through these fire compartments.

It is not normally possible to reinstate these walls or floors with the original material and even if it was, it would not be sufficiently incorporated into the original material/structure to ensure it maintained its integrity in the event of a fire.

Fire stopping products are specifically designed to be retro fitted into various substrates and opening sizes. They are then tested in a furnace to simulate their performance in the built environment in a fire scenario.

Third Party Certification

What is Third Party Certification? A frequent concern of stakeholders is in knowing whether a product will perform in accordance with the stated specifications. These concerns can involve such product attributes as safety, health or environmental impacts, durability, compatibility, suitability for intended purposes or for stated conditions, and other similar considerations

Third party certification is a conformity assessment process, carried out by a body that is independent of both supplier and customer organisations. It provides confirmation that products and services have met and will continue to meet the requirements of specified standards and other normative documents.

LPCB third party product certification schemes are quality assurance schemes and comprise initial type testing and technical evaluation, assessment and surveillance of the manufacturer’s quality system and factory production procedures, regular audit testing, labelling and listing.

We certify all our passive fire stopping works through BRE. So, when you see their logo on our documentation this offers our clients comfort in the knowledge that they are in safe hands.

On completion of any works undertaken, our clients are provided with a full Operation and Maintenance manual (O&M) for the works including photographic evidence, product data sheets and certification.
